Dragon Boats (Tsung-Tse; Chinese Yarn Winding) |
Tsung-Tse is a symbol for the Dragon Boat Festival in China. It is
originally the name for a rice dumpling wrapped in bamboo leaves and eaten
during the festival. Its attractive shape is later used for decorative
purposes by women and children who make colorful silk windings on
three-dimensional paper folding. Dragon Boats were fashionable in ancient
courts as elaborate wrappings for important gifts. |
You will need a 10 yd. continuous length of cotton floss or perle, ribbon
floss, Kreinik Silk Mori, or Kreinik #16 braid, and a contrasting color 5
yd. continuous length of Kreinik #16 braid. Also: Needles appropriately
sized for your thread, lightweight cardboard, straight pins, scotch tape,
glue, and medium-sized beads. |
