Our Website & Yahoo Group Tutorial |
Our Webmistress and one of our resident computer professionals, Angelina
Hendricks, will give a presentation on the EGA National website and our
chapter's website. She will also give an overview of our Yahoo group, which
can only be joined by chapter members. This site is where the monthly
newsletter can be accessed and printed. Don't plan on getting too much
stitching done, because Angelina will be projecting onto a screen with the
room somewhat darkened. |

Lace and Whitework Collection from Gay Ann |
Gay Ann will share on of her favorite pastimes of collecting and studying
old lace and whitework. We will gather around tables and pass around some
beautiful pieces that we can touch and see while Gay Ann talks about them
and their history.
Come for this chance to see many of the pieces you may have heard of:
18th century Alencon lace familiar to people who love Jane Austen's novels,
Dresdenwork, an inspiration to anyone who loves pulled thread, Ayrshire
christening dresses and baby bonnets, a piece of cutwork the same age as the
Spanish Armada and two 19th century white work handkerchiefs with embroidery
so awesome they remain Gay Ann’s favorites. |

Sale and Soldier Kissing Pillow Chart
 |
Memorial Day Sale: Red, White and Wonderful Sale
A “Kissing Pillow” you can stitch in less than 2 hours. Briefly, the 4”
square, lightly stuffed pillows have a heart outline stitched on them, the
words “I love you,” and two red, white and blue stars within the heart. They
are backed with washable fabrics in patriotic and camouflage designs. Each
pillow is presented in a plastic bag with a note explaining the purpose of
the tiny pillow and expressing gratitude. The servicemen and women leaving
for service of our country can kiss the heart pillow and give one to each of
his or her children and loved ones to hold onto until they return home. The
recipient will have his or her “kiss” in the lonely months ahead. A large
selection of backing material is used so each person in one household can
have his or her own identifiable pillow. We are told that the departing
soldiers are having their loved ones kiss one pillow for themselves and are
taking it with them when they leave. This little pillow is serving a great
need. |

designer mat, glass, and frame clips. Complete Kit available to members for

Beginning Tatting |
Gini Moore will (re?)introduce us to the basics of shuttle tatting. Working
with two colors is the best way to see how the basic stitch is done
properly. |
The chapter will provide members with one tatting shuttle and a ball of white DMC size 8 pearl
cotton. Please bring any other color of size 8 pearl cotton; a 1/3-1/2 full
ball is sufficient. Non-members are welcome and may purchase these supplies
for $3.00. Also bring a size 7 metal crochet hook if you have one. To comply
with copyright, each of you should print the following patterns from the
internet, for yourself, ahead of time: (1)
www.geocities.com/leen_tats; choose Patterns; Victorian Edging, (2)
www.geocities.com/birgit_ph; scroll down and choose Li'l Heart – near
the bottom of the page; and (3)
www.craftsnlace.net/hearts and choose Janice's Pattern. (Web non-users
can ask a family member or friend to print for you.) |

chapter's contribution for the Region's Exhibit at EGA's Margaret Parshall
Gallery in Louisville, Kentucky. The choice will be made by all members who
are present – so be sure to attend this meeting! AND election of the
chapter's officers for 2008. |
Bring your own project to stitch when you aren't oohing and aahing over the
gallery or casting your vote. |
