Beaded Nametag Holder |
The last day to sign up for the $3 kit is the March 27 chapter meeting. For
only $3, you will receive a pair of clips in silver or gold, 30" of flex
wire, and four crimp beads.
All you need to bring is enough beads to fill the 30" of wire – but you
could make a shorter string. Margi suggests a minimum of three different
beads, in your choice of color combinations or sizes. Bring crimp bead
pliers and a beading board, if you have them. (The board can be purchased
from Michael's or Beverly's.)
Need beads? You might want to check out the
San Diego Trunk Show that runs 14-16 April 2006 at the Seven Seas Best
Western. |

Eight Cornered Tuffed Pillow |
Tamara will be teaching this Eight-Sided Tufted Pillow or Pin Cushion for
our May program. She has done her model of a Twisted Oak Design in a lovely
variegated thread. Barbara has stitched the free design by Martina Weber for
Chatelaine's Kathy's Violets. The free design suggests the following materials:
DMC floss in 320, 333, 340, 341, 367, 369, 823, 890, 3746 Kreinik #4 gold braid
Mill Hill beads #40566, Antique Silver
The stitch count is 50 x 50.
Stitched on 16 ct Aida or 1 32 ct. evenweave, a 5" square would give enough
fabric for finishing it into a cute little pillow shape.
For finishing, please bring:
Your stitched piece
Another piece of fabric the same size as your stitched piece
#12 pearl cotton in a color to match or blend with your stitching
Matching floss

Pulled Thread Petite Project |
32-count linen, 9" x 6"--a piece that is larger or smaller will require adjustment of the stitches. We learned from a previous
pulled thread project that this technique works best on actual linen. A
32-count linen blend, especially with a rayon content, will not give the
best results, as man-made fibers are spongier, not lending themselves to
being pulled tight.
DMC Cordonnet, size 30. This thread comes in a ball, like pearl cotton. It
is available in white or ecru. One ball will make 5 pincushions. |
