2007 Programs 2006 Programs 2005 Programs

Month Program Supply List (if applicable)
January Library Night Come see the Muchas Manos chapter library!  Check out a book in a new technique or one you've always wanted to read.

No supplies needed.

February Quilt Theme Ornament Supplies to work the quilt-themed ornament of your choice
March "Overlord" Slide Show No supplies needed.
April Beaded Nametag Holder The last day to sign up for the $3 kit is the March 27 chapter meeting. For only $3, you will receive a pair of clips in silver or gold, 30" of flex wire, and four crimp beads.

All you need to bring is enough beads to fill the 30" of wire – but you could make a shorter string. Margi suggests a minimum of three different beads, in your choice of color combinations or sizes. Bring crimp bead pliers and a beading board, if you have them. (The board can be purchased from Michael's or Beverly's.)

Need beads?  You might want to check out the San Diego Trunk Show that runs 14-16 April 2006 at the Seven Seas Best Western.

May Eight Cornered Tuffed Pillow Tamara will be teaching this Eight-Sided Tufted Pillow or Pin Cushion for our May program. She has done her model of a Twisted Oak Design in a lovely variegated thread. Barbara has stitched the free design by Martina Weber for Chatelaine's Kathy's Violets.  The free design suggests the following materials:

DMC floss in 320, 333, 340, 341, 367, 369, 823, 890, 3746 Kreinik #4 gold braid
Mill Hill beads #40566, Antique Silver

The stitch count is 50 x 50. Stitched on 16 ct Aida or 1 32 ct. evenweave, a 5" square would give enough fabric for finishing it into a cute little pillow shape.

For finishing, please bring:

Your stitched piece
Another piece of fabric the same size as your stitched piece
#12 pearl cotton in a color to match or blend with your stitching
Matching floss
Usual stitching supplies

June Tools of the Trade Karen Krampe will lead an informative discussion of all the "Gadgets You Need to Know About"! She has the inside scoop on every gadget you could imagine. If you have any unusual or old tools or gadgets, bring them along for a Show, Share, and Tell.
July Finish the Quilt Ornaments Sandy will show us how to finish those quilt ornaments.  Bring your sewing machine, if you can, and invisible nylon thread, felt, ultra-suede, ribbons, buttons, beads, charms, glue or anything else you think you may need to complete your ornaments
August Beaded Needlecase Books and kits will be distributed at the August meeting to those who have signed up with Karen.
September Praying for a Cure Pocket Project is a gift for all members: the chart, fabric, threads and other supplies – there is nothing for you to buy or bring
October Bargello Christmas Stocking #24 congress cloth or 25 count evenweave fabric, 8" x 10"
One skein of each Caron Collection:
     Soie Cristale in White 0057
     Pale Green 7024
     Watercolours in Evergreen 121
     Candlelight in Gold D1
     Impressions in Navy 0076
     Snow
1/4 yard lining fabric
1/4 yard backing fabric
1 yard cording
Needles: Size 22 and 24 tapestry
November Pulled Thread Petite Project 32-count linen, 9" x 6"--a piece that is larger or smaller will require adjustment of the stitches.  We learned from a previous pulled thread project that this technique works best on actual linen. A 32-count linen blend, especially with a rayon content, will not give the best results, as man-made fibers are spongier, not lending themselves to being pulled tight.
DMC Cordonnet, size 30. This thread comes in a ball, like pearl cotton. It is available in white or ecru. One ball will make 5 pincushions.
