Even though Mother Nature is screaming, "It's still summer!" here in San
Diego, I know that Fall is upon us. Michael flew back to Purdue on Friday
and the two younger boys begin school this third week of August. As I write
this I feel ready for cooler days! Lately, it has been too warm even to
stitch. I did, however, sneak some stitching in last week when I was up at
scout camp – it was cool and clear in the Sierras.
I want to share with you some good news: our chapter's bylaws, which your
board worked so hard to update, have been approved and returned by National.
We will formally approve them at our next meeting, and then we will be "good
to go" for another five years. I will be posting the official copy on our
Yahoo site and we will have copies available for any member who desires a
copy.
I am working to finish several more Kissing Pillows before our September
meeting, and I hope all of you are doing the same. There are 12 in our
finished box so far and I'm sure we will meet or beat our goal of 20
finished pillows by our September meeting. Did you know that since this
project began in 2005, some 2,660 pillows have been given to the military?
It has been reported that some soldiers keep these tucked into their helmets
as a way to keep their families close. Keep stitching!
At last count, four of our members will be off to Chicago for the
National Seminar, and then I will go to the Fall PSR Meeting on Sept. 16.
Next month there will be a great deal to discuss. Stay tuned!
May your stitches be many – your frogs be few. Ina
