President’s Message
What a great time we had in Chicago! The National Seminar was an amazing
experience – great classes, great food, great friends and great shopping.
While I hatched birds, Gini made chocolates, and Susan learned to build two
beautifully decorative boxes. I'm sure we'll have a show-and-tell
opportunity at an upcoming meeting. We loved it all, and came home with
suitcases that were much heavier than when we left – after multiple visits
to the bookstore, boutique, local stores, and merchandise night! Seminar
next year in Louisville, Kentucky, promises to be an even bigger, better
party as EGA celebrates its 50th Anniversary. If you haven't already
pre-registered, make sure you send in your registration on the first day of
regular registration. You won't want to miss this Golden Gala.
No sooner did I unpack from the Chicago trip than I re-packed to go to
the Region Meeting on September 16 in Orange County. There was much good
news reported, including a special surprise which I will share at our
meeting.
Keep stitching those Kissing Pillows! Although we have a chapter goal of
20 to be done by our September meeting, remember this is an ongoing outreach
program.
May your stitches be many – your frogs be few. Ina

Congratulations, Ladies !! There was an increase in every category this
month! This is a great reflection of how hard we have been working on our
Pansy thread painting projects, beaded glasses holders, and Kissing Pillows.
Hurray for us!!
Other News
- September brings us beginning shuttle tatting
by Gini. You may remember the lovely ornaments Gini tatted for our
Quilt Show fundraiser. The chapter will give members one tatting
shuttle and a ball of white size 8 pearl cotton. Please bring any other
color of size 8 pearl cotton from your stash, a size 7 metal crochet hook,
an open mind and patience!! To comply with copyright, each of you should
print the following patterns from the internet, for yourself, ahead of time:
(1)
www.geocities.com/leen_tats; choose Patterns; Victorian Edging, (2)
www.geocities.com/birgit_ph; scroll down and choose Li'l Heart – near
the bottom of the page; and (3)
www.craftsnlace.net/hearts and choose Janice's Pattern. (Web non-users
can ask a family member or friend to print for you.)
- In October, Sandy H. will show us more of her
professional techniques for finishing fabulous ornaments on a round button
form. The satin stitch/ hardanger designs that Karen K. distributed a few
months ago are designed to fit the 2 3/4" diameter button forms. Or bring
any other small stitched piece of that size.
- Don't forget to support the businesses that advertise in our chapter
newsletter! Let them know you are a member of Muchas Manos and
appreciate their support. In this month's newsletter, our advertisers
were: Framesmith,
Needle Nook of
La Jolla,
Needlepoint of
La Jolla,
Sandy's
Finishing Touches,
