President’s Message
Greetings, ladies. I hope your September is moving smoothly and the threads
are just flowing from your needles onto your ground cloths. I hope you studied
the last edition of Needle Arts. The article on Storr House and the cover
photo includes our region's attic bedroom. Emily, thank you for chairing that
committee.
Lynn and I are just back from Las Cruces, NM. Our plans are moving forward.
I met the president of the Las Cruces EGA Chapter and spent a delightful two
hours talking with her – as fast as we could talk. She and her husband moved
to Las Cruces three years ago from Appleton, Wisconsin. What I have found is
that at any location that has a chapter of EGA, you are welcome to join their
group and you have found a ready family to help you with your move and
settling in. I'm so glad I met you – every one of you – you prove my point. As
I close in on my seven year anniversary of being in San Diego (October 3rd)
and being part of the Muchas Manos chapter, I find that I am proud to be a
part of such a neat group of people. I hope you share this feeling, too.
The nominating committee met and I think you will be as pleased as I am at
their recommendations. Gloria, a special thank you. I understand that you are
great arm twister! Heather and Karen, a special thank you too. Great job.
As I type this I realize I must get off the computer and head for work.
See you at the meeting!
Ruth
Volunteer
Service Hours
Be sure to turn in your volunteer service hours to Ina Gibson, our Regional
Rep. These hours are vital in helping EGA maintain its non-profit status. All
volunteer hours count, even if for an organization other than EGA.
Thanks to everyone !!

The November meeting is the last day to turn in your stitched projects for
credit in the Un – Finished Object program in order to get credit. Recognition
and awards will be given at the Holiday Party on December 6 for winners!
The number of Outreach Bookmarks has not increased for a few months. We are
planning to donate bookmarks to another public library next summer, so if you
can stitch up a few more before the November meeting, you will be helping that
Outreach and getting 2 points credit for each bookmark!
Autumn and
Winter Cleaning
Saturday, January 1, 2005, we will meet in the Clairemont Community Room
for an Open Stitching / Potluck and Lemonade or White Elephant sale, with
Opportunity Baskets. This will be a fundraising event for our chapter, looking
forward to the Pacific Southwest Region Seminar which will take place here in
San Diego from May-31 to June 4, 2005.
Take some time to review your stash and library to decide if there are any
charts, fabrics, kits, books or anything else you may be willing to part with
as a contribution to the sale. Invite your family, frends, neighbors, and
co-workers! The funds we raise will be used for our hosting of the PSR Meeting
during the seminar week.
Make your decisions and bring your contributions to the Holiday Party on
December 6 so we can organize and prepare the Opportunity Baskets.
Other News
- In October, the EGA's Hardanger Petite Project will be presented by Ina
Gibson. This item has been designed for beginners to hardanger, but is sure to
be attractive to experienced stitchers as well. You won't need to purchase
new materials for this program – kits will be provided!
- THANK YOU TO:
- Shelly Pope
Shelly spent many long hours toiling away at her computer to re create the
chart for the Berry American Sampler which is our September 2004 project.
Shelly's designing talents are really being sharpened this year. Remember the
rose design she made for the heart-shaped Altoids tin topper? And be sure to
ask her about another original design she made using decorative stitches from
A to Z.
- Tamara Willis
Tamara has also worked diligently to keep records on all of us in the UFO
program!
- Don't forget to support the businesses that advertise in our chapter
newsletter! Let them know you are a member of Muchas Manos and
appreciate their support. In this month's newsletter, our advertisers
were:

Framesmith,
Needle Nook of La Jolla, Needlecraft Cottage,
Needlepoint of
La Jolla,
