Interested in more stitching time?
Learning a new technique? Please come visit us! We love to see
new people and their projects whether they are beginners or experts or somewhere
in between.
Whether it's cross stitch, needlepoint, crewel, ribbon embroidery, or
anything else you can create with a needle, you've come to the right place.
Muchas Manos is a group of people who love to stitch. Our get-togethers
give us the opportunity to carve out some stitching time and relax.
Please stop by our
chat and stitch evenings (on the 1st Wednesday of the
month through June) as
well as our monthly meetings (3rd Monday) in the
Clairemont area of San Diego. Please see our
calendar for upcoming events. We welcome guests to join us in some
stitching and meet us. Nervous about just showing up?
Contact any one of our board members to learn more.
What is Muchas Manos? In addition to be being stitching fanatics, we
are a chapter of
The Embroiderers' Guild of
America, Inc.,
(EGA). The EGA encourages you to stitch in any technique you enjoy.
You can stick with the one technique you love or branch out and try something
new. What you stitch is entirely up to you. Some of the techniques
the members of the EGA enjoy include:
Appliqué, Blackwork, Brazilian
Embroidery, Canvas Embroidery, Color & Design, Conservation of Textiles,
Contemporary Embroidery, Counted Thread Embroidery (including Cross Stitch), Crewel Embroidery, Cutwork
Embroidery, Drawn Thread Embroidery, Ecclesiastical Embroidery, Fabric
Embellishment, Fine Handsewing, Hardanger, Hedebo, Lacework, Machine Embroidery,
Metal Thread Embroidery, Mixed Media Embroidery, Needlepoint, Painting and Dyeing Fabrics,
Patchwork, Pulled Work, Quilting, Schwalm Embroidery, Shadow Work Embroidery, Silk Embroidery,
Smocking, Stumpwork, Surface Stitchery, Tenerife Embroidery, and Whitework.
The EGA is comprised of 13 regions. We are part of the
Pacific Southwestern Region
(PSR). Our region is home to members in 24
chapters located throughout Arizona, Southern Nevada, and Southern California. The EGA offers a wide variety of opportunities to take classes in your
favorite (or a new) technique. These opportunities range from online
classes to one-day workshops to week-long seminars. Some are hosted by individual
chapters, others by the region, and some are national. You can choose
whichever fits your interests, lifestyle, and budget.
